Answer

This is not the main website for Knox County Public Library in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is a website for the Ask a Librarian service and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). You're in the right place if you have questions or want to contact the library.

Library Home – From any page of this Ask a Librarian site, you can get to the main website using the logo in the upper left, or using the "Library home" link in the breadcrumb below the logo.

Using this site

Whether you search the FAQs or browse them by topic, you'll be routed to the most relevant questions and their answers on this website. Next, if the suggested answers are not what you're looking for, you can:

  1. Use the "submit a question" form to create a ticket. A librarian will get back to you.
  2. Use the "contact us" panel to find the best telephone numbers, our texting number, and/or a chat button.

Chat is available when Lawson McGhee Library is open, but might be down during shift changes or a few minutes before closing.

Feedback is solicited at the end of chats and tickets to help us improve our service.

Your account, and library catalog

The catalog is where you search for items to check out, get recommendations based on your ratings, and check your account for due dates and other information.

Other library sites

The library offers services and content in partnership with providers that support those services on other websites. The best example is OverDrive, which hosts our downloadable ebook and audiobook collections. Other partners provide our museum passes program, interlibrary loan, Read City logging, etc. When you follow links to such services, you are leaving our websites for external sites. Those external links may open in a different browser tab.

Our systems status page shows if any of our systems or partners are known to be down.
