Gale eBooks – Encyclopedias covering medicine and mental health topics.

Health and Wellness (Gale) – Includes hundreds of health/medical journals, several reference volumes, over 1500 videos, pamphlets, and health-related articles from general interest publications.

Salem Health – Medicine and mental health topics include anatomy, physiology, diagnosis and testing, diseases, disorders, symptoms, prevention, lifestyle, nutrition, social issues, treatment and therapy.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Information on disease outbreaks, emergencies, travel health warnings and more. Provides direct access to over 900 health and safety topics, scientific articles, data and statistics.

Cityview, "Top Docs" article – Cityview magazine publishes an annual "Top Docs" list which is selected by Knoxville area referring physicians.

DailyMed – Find detailed dosage and usage information, full list of ingredients, safety recalls; report adverse events.

FamilyDoctor.org – Written and reviewed by physicians and patient education professionals at the American Academy of Family Physicians. Search by symptom; drug information; body mass index calculator; nutrient shortfall questionnaire.

Licensure verification and disciplinary actions – The Tennessee Health Related Board's website verification system lets you check the credentials of health practitioners licensed in Tennessee; it also provides Disciplinary Practitioner Profile and Abuse Data.

MedlinePlus – High-quality, relevant health and wellness information that is trusted, easy to understand, and free of advertising. Health topic pages on MedlinePlus contain links to topic-specific searches of PubMed. These searches, which are created by medical librarians, can help you find references and abstracts for the latest articles in the professional biomedical literature.

Merck Manuals – Award-winning sites with information about symptoms, disorders, emergencies, drugs, and self-assessments, in a professional edition and a consumer edition. There's also a veterinary edition.

National Institutes of Health resources – The National Institutes of Health funds important discoveries that improve health and save lives.

National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (CCIH) – Provides information about complementary health products and practices.

PDR – Physicians' Desk Reference® , or Prescriber's Digital Reference, a database of drug information including alerts, recalls and approvals.

Mental health specifically

FindTreatment.gov – A directory (confidential and anonymous) of treatment facilities for substance abuse/addiction and/or mental health problems, provided by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Please note: not every facility is accredited, nor is every accredited facility accredited by the Joint Commission. Look for "License/Certification/Accreditation" (it may not appear in the profile) and compare the accrediting organizations.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Mental Health – Resources and hotlines for individuals and families.

MedlinePlus: Mental Health & Behavior topic overviews with treatments, journal articles, clinical trials, and patient handouts.
