Answer

There are multiple search providers of digital Knoxville News Sentinel:

  • NewsBank – Under our license with NewsBank, only regional residents or walk-in patrons may use the resource, and librarians may provide copies to only those users.
  • ProQuest – Access through ProQuest is part of the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL), which is free to every Tennessee resident. Since we subscribe to more newspapers for our library patrons, we require a library card for access. You can use the TEL access without a library card if you are in Tennessee.
  • Newspapers.com – We subscribe to the full United States edition, requiring a library card for access; the South Eastern edition is on TEL for access by Tennessee residents.

Each of these options offers a different coverage date range and different features for researchers. You may have best results by trying all three.

If you're too remote for a visit, you may make your request through your local library's interlibrary loan service. If your library does not typically offer interlibrary loan borrowing, refer the librarian to call our interlibrary loan office at ill@knoxlib.org or 865-215-8746.

We can look for the article you need if we have enough information for a good search. This is a great time to be wordy; share all relevant details about what you're looking for and that will aid in locating the article.
