Q. How do I renew an expired library card?

Most library cards must be renewed every three years.

Notice

Most patrons who receive email notifications will receive a notice by email 30 days before the expiration of the library account. There is no other method of notification prior to expiration.

Need it now? If you receive an error like "privilege has expired," or otherwise need restoration to your account immediately, contact us at (865) 215-8751 or bring your library card to Lawson McGhee Library or any branch.

No rush? You can use the link below and wait for your renewal to be processed. These requests are reviewed within 3 business days. Online-only accounts (created during COVID-19 measures) cannot be renewed; they must be replaced by making an in-person account application.

You may send a check for the $40.00 annual Out-of-county fee—along with your library card number—to:
